The building is made up of 6 no. blocks providing offices and meeting rooms as well as the reception, restaurant, kitchen and council chambers. This scheme consists of the refurbishment and remodelling of the existing offices, kitchens, toilets, stairwell and corridors contained within blocks 2, 3 and 4 of County Hall in Morpeth.
The existing offices were refurbished to provide mainly open plan but also compartmentalised office space and both small and large meeting rooms reflecting the local area in their fit out and decor. The works also included the refurbishment and remodelling of the WC areas and alterations and adaptions to the Mechanical and Electrical installations.
Allowing the new blocks to become modern bright spacious open plan work places for the Northumberland Council staff. Specialist features were introduced to give the space a modern architectural feel. Due to the excellent working relationship Northern Bear have been appointed on the Phase 2 scheme at the site with a value of £4m.
The works were phased with Block 4 being completed prior to the end users moving back into the block, which then allowed works to commence on Block 3 until this block was complete, this process was repeated to allow Block 2 to be refurbished.
