Every year Northern Bear have completed numerous school projects for the client. Projects have ranged from maintenance works, window replacements, classroom upgrades, tarmac/ external works & extensions. Ranging values form £50.00 – £250,000. With a set team who solely work on educational projects this gives us the insight and experiences of how to deliver each project safely and successfully as we know not all works can be completed within shut downs.
The busiest time of the year is the summer shut down where the team can work on anything up to on 30 projects, including school extension. To make this achievable we moved resources around the business to provide us with more site managers and office staff to deal with the increased volume of works. All projects were completed successfully and on time.
Examples of works which were completed are:
St Paul’s, External Drainage & Playground Works
Over the summer shut down, our externals team upgraded the external drainage to St Paul’s School in Alnwick. Our remit was to upgrade the external drainage to reduce laying water within the car park & playground. We installed 2 no. new surface drainage water runs one within the playground area 1 in the car park area. Once these works were completed we then re surfaced the areas and painted new white lines including sports pitches.
St. Aloysious RC Junior School, Internal Refurbishment & Extension.
Our team carried out internal refurbishment works and a new extension to the school. Within the holidays all the ground works were completed and brickwork to the extension were started. All internal refurbishment works were completed, to help works go smoothly our operatives also created all of the openings between the existing school and the extension, these were then blocked over to minimise disruption to the school within term times. Works were completed and also additional works were instructed as the project was coming in under budget.
