Client: St Mary’s RC Primary School
Date/duration: July 2012 for 6 weeks
Location: Consett, County Durham
This scheme comprised the reconfiguration of four classrooms, which took place during the school summer recess of 2012.
Large amounts of demolition and structural alterations were required, with installation of internal foundations to support new steelwork. New partitions, doors and suspended ceilings were installed, and associated mechanical and electrical works were carried out. Finally, the classrooms were fitted out with floor and wall finishes, fitted furniture and IT hardware.
Externally, alterations were undertaken to the entrance door and the courtyard.
The project was carried out entirely during the school’s summer holidays, to ensure that the new toileting facilities were ready for use upon the school’s reopening in September. Liaison with school staff ensured that works were coordinated with the daily operation of the building, thus enabling both parties to work safely and effectively.
