Student Central at Northumbria
Building on the £200 million invested in it’s Coach lane and City campuses over the last ten years, Northumbria University is now planning a number of major projects to transform the experience it provides to students studying at it’s City campus.
The area around Northumbria’s Students’ Union and Library will be transformed to create a new Student Central zone that will bring together all student-facing services, such as careers, welfare and international support to one area in the heart of the campus.
This will allow students to access the University Library, Sport Central, Shop Central, the Students’ Union and services, such as careers and employment, Student Support and Wellbeing, and international advice all in one central zone.
Summer 2017 will herald the most visible changes with the current quad space outside the University Library and Student’s Union re-landscaped and the installation of a striking new facade wrapping around the Library towards Newcastle Civic Centre to create a new gateway to Northumbria University from the Haymarket. All of this space will help create outstanding learning, teaching and social spaces that will meet their current and future needs.
We have been appointed to deliver the Student Central works with the University and are working with our design team and the Universities stakeholders to ensure the works are delivered with minimum disruption to everyone at the University and the in the surrounding area.
